When we read the book of the Bible it may simply appear to be so many words to us. However once our lives have been influenced by God’s Holy Spirit the words of scripture come to life. This doesn’t just apply in a Pentecostal setting for those who have received the baptism with the Holy Spirit but for all who have received Christ as their personal Saviour. After all, it is the conviction of the Holy Spirit, working upon our hearts, that begins the whole transformation process by believing and receiving God’s word.

The Holy Spirit is our partner in God’s purposes, helping and guiding us into knowledge and understanding, revealing and applying the truth of God’s word. Jesus Himself taught that “...when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth…” John 16 verse 13. So when I allow the Holy Spirit to guide me as I read and meditate (contemplate) God’s word I find myself better able to apply that truth to my life. It is a dangerous idea to think that the Holy Spirit will just do it for me, no, it must be a partnership of cooperation. My intellect and understanding working with His revelation and conviction. In this way He (the Holy Spirit) guides me, He takes the word of God and seats it deeply within my inner man so that it becomes more than just knowledge, it becomes the living reality of my experience. So God’s word is living and powerful and God’s Spirit comes and grafts that living word into my heart so that the word becomes a part of me. Many have expressed this as the word ‘getting into’ or ‘laying hold of’ them.

Are you ready for a more supernatural, deeper rooted sense of God’s truth in your heart? Then ask God’s Spirit to help. He will! Ask God to help you understand His word and the Holy Spirit will guide you to the resources and people who will help you.

What restful companionship we find in God’s word, both in the person of Christ Jesus and in His written book (the bible). The more we read, the more we discover the soothing balm (ointment), the reality of God’s restful assurance, and calming presence. What an amazing God, what a wonderful experience as we become immersed both in the relationship and the revelation. The relationship with Jesus brings a desire to know the word and knowing the word brings a desire to know God’s Son Jesus in relationship. As we sit and consider what God tells us from His word, we find a peace, a calm and a healing that is unique in a written book. Unique because this word is living and powerful. These words have impact and affect in the hearts of those who The more we read, the more we learn, the deeper we may find ourselves in His nearness. It is not only the instruction we gain in how to live life in a transformed way but the word carries it’s own release of divine power. That power soothes, heals, calms, and enrich-ens our being. We are edified that is built up with a positive spiritual power, divine energy, as the Spirit Himself

Illuminates and applies that word deep into our hearts. We must be careful not to resist or place boundaries in our thoughts or hearts. Those inner thoughts we secretly keep about ourselves (self image) can become a block to God’s word reaching deep into our lives. Our hearts must be open to the life transforming power of God’s word. That is how the word transforms us and our experience of soothing, restful companionship becomes deep and effective in our lives.

God's word can become so refreshing and soothing that it moves into the realms of restful companionship as we go deeper and deeper into the realms of God's revelation. What an amazing God, even the word grace carries such tremendous impact if we open our hearts to allow it.

Life changing, that is about the best way I can describe an encounter with Jesus Christ. When we learn more about Jesus, His teachings and guidance for life we are encouraged to follow a God given pattern. This pattern of life leads to a closer relationship with God the Father and a stronger ability to resist the attacks of the enemy on our hearts and minds. Jesus reveals to us not only God’s salvation but also a life journey that is rich and fulfilling for each one of us. The bible reveals God’s teaching and because it is God’s word it is dynamic, active, living and powerful is how the Apostle Paul puts it. The deeper we allow this word to reach into our hearts and minds the greater it’s affects will be. If I allow my heart to become rooted in Jesus’ teaching then I will find a new inner strength from which to face life. My life becomes far more purposeful when I understand who I am through my relationship with Jesus. It is through God’s word that I make sense of the supernatural encounters I might experience. It is through God’s word that I gain understanding of what is happening in my life and the world around me. Through God’s word life makes sense. Though we may be moved by our feelings, it is through revelation and understanding that our relationship with God deepens. I find that as we grow, in our knowledge and understanding of God’s word, our inner man becomes far deeper rooted in Christ and the power of His resurrection. Our lives change as we allow the word (the bible) to take hold of our lives, as it becomes the root for all our thoughts and actions. This is a great truth then, that the more we know the word, the more we know Jesus and the more we know Jesus the clearer our lives and our purpose of our lives become. God's word is not just the compass we use to find direction, although direction is helpful it isn't enough to bring us strength, peace, hope and joy. It is those deep rooted thoughts and beliefs at the center of our hearts that will most influence who we are and how we view our lives and therefor our life's purpose. When Jesus is at the core of these beliefs, His word at the root of our self image allows the power of God to be released into every aspect of our lives. It is when the Word is our root that it become life changing in our lives.
